Mo’olelo

When sitting with naming this foundation - I felt called and connected to the wili lei purely from the technique used to “wrap” together many different flowers and leaves to create an intricate and breathtaking adornment.

This namesake is my heartbeat; to bridge together the relationships I have made through my career, to incredible nonprofits in Hawaii who are doing work to perpetuate the culture.

This adventure has been a passion project of mine for some time. As Kanaka Maoli (native hawaiian) I have always understood my Kuleana (responsibility) to my culture and Kupuna (those who came before me). As I embark on this new journey I am so encouraged to know I have your support and curiosity in what's to come.

For those of you who know me, my North Star has always been my heart to help others. As a fundraiser in a nonprofit in California, I have learned that relationships have been the constant in supporting my career, but most importantly the missions that I have believed in. Utilizing relationships and building communities is what made me realize the need to shift my way of fundraising and in essence my legacy.

In no way is this journey about me, this is far greater than me. This is for the Kupuna, for the ‘Aina and for the mo’olelo.

Malama Pono,

Koana
